In Pressiat, the discovery on Mont Châtel of the remains of two churches of the sixth and seventh centuries makes this place a major site of implantation of the Christian power during the Merovingian period. Excavations have been conducted regularly on this site since 2015, and probably for the last year, in September. They are carried out under the scientific supervision of the regional archaeological service of the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. This is the best time to exchange on the discoveries, hypotheses and advances of the current research with the present excavators.

Access to the site requires 30 minutes of walking with 300 m of altitude difference. You must be in good physical condition, provide good shoes and water.

These visits are organized in partnership by the association of the Friends of Treffort-Cuisiat and the Revermont museum, the tourist office Bourg-Destinations and the municipality of Val-Revermont.
