Welcome to Chavaniac Castle. Today, the spirit and heart of LAFAYETTE are more than ever present in this house where voices take you back in time, and lights guide you to the heart of this castle, in the birth chamber where the Marquis was born, on September 6, 1757.
The walls tell you the story of his life, his happy childhood in Chavaniac, his marriage with Adrienne de Noailles where as for a play, the stage was set, and the characters gathered to stage this great event.
During the visit, you will go to the discovery of Gilbert Motier de La Fayette (fresco), you will take a few minutes to read the very diverse opinions on our hero (admirers & opponents), you will take the corridor to discover in the room of the High-Loire what his childhood was. You will continue your visit to the Treasury Room, then it will be the birth room of Lafayette, and the marriage of our hero who will decide his destiny. You will be allowed to enter the secret world of freemasonry to which Lafayette has been
