The collegiate church of Notre-Dame is one of the five sanctuaries built in medieval times in the center of Chamalières. The western massif and the nave, built in arkose, are pre-Romanesque. The drawing of the apse comprising four radiant chapels was typical of the Auvergne Romanesque churches, before being transformed by the vault into cross-sections of Volvic stone ribs of the seventeenth century.
