Concert of romances by Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Création - Concert of romances by Jean-Jacques Rousseau for the most part unpublished, extracted from Consolations des misères de ma vie, collection of airs, romances and duos (published posthumously in 1781 for the benefit of the Hôpital des Enfants Trouvé).
An exceptional programme of songs written throughout his life by Rousseau, a French precursor of the melody genre. We know his opera Le Devin du village, but the composer who breaks out the quarrel of the jesters against Jean-Philippe Rameau is also the author of salon plays, including a hundred romances composed on his texts, but also Italian, Spanish and English poems. Pure application of his thought, the music of Jean-Jacques Rousseau seeks simplicity, authenticity, naturalness, rejects ornament and style mannered according to creed: first feeling, then reason.
Philippe Grisvard, harpsichordist, is sought after by the best baroque ensembles. He has collaborated with Le Poème Harmonique, L'Achéron, La Fenice, La Chapelle Rhénane, Scherzi Musicali, Ensemble Diderot, Freiburger Barockorchester, Les Ambassadeurs and Le Concert d'Astrée. Philippe Grisvard has participated in more than 50 recordings, including one solo album, in 2017 (Audax).
Maïlys de Villoutreys, soprano, specializes in the baroque repertoire. She sang regularly with Les Folies Françoises (P. Cohen-Akénine), Amarillis (H. Gaillard), La Rêveuse (B. Perrot/F. Bolton), Desmarest (R. Khalil), for chamber recitals in formation. She is regularly invited by the Pygmalion Ensemble (R. Pichon), as well as by the Musicians of the Louvre (M. Minkowski), Le Banquet Céleste (D. Guillon), Die Kölner Akademie (M. Willens)... Passionate about vocal chamber music, she explores a wide intimate repertoire ranging from monodie accompanied by 17th century to contemporary music.
Event organized as part of the Vis-à-Vis Festival (4-5 June, 2-3 July, 17-18 September) at the Charmettes. Designed with the Circolo dei lettori in Turin.
