Cathedral under construction
Built between 1175 and 1220-25, the Embrun Cathedral currently celebrates 800 years of its construction and its influence. Its Lombard, Romanesque and Gothic architecture and decoration have inspired many religious buildings, and testify to the power of the Archbishop of Embrun over the centuries. In 2022, a campaign of works was launched to preserve this heritage and ensure its transmission to future generations. This historic site is an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the art of cathedral builders and understand the importance of safeguarding and restoring our heritage. A visit of the cathedral is proposed on these themes, combined with a stone cutting workshop with the journeymen workers who work on its restoration (company Les Compagnons de Castellane, specialized in the restoration of Historical Monuments).
