Laure Bellanger makes unique illuminations or copies of illuminations from famous medieval manuscripts of the late Middle Ages. She works in a naturalistic style that tends to be as close as possible to reality. From a technical point of view, these illuminations are mainly made on goat or kid parchment. It works only with natural pigments: plants like garance, and minerals like lapis lazuli. They are all made in her workshop, by herself, according to the recipe of the medieval tempera composed, essentially, of egg white, gum Arabic and honey.
