Eglise Saint-Pierrre-aux-Liens - Congrier (53)
Congrier
The church of St-Pierre-aux-Liens was built from 1882 to 1885, according to the plans of the departmental architect Eugène Hawke. It is the successor to a church built in 1802, which itself replaced the burnt church in 1794\. The location is identical but the orientation is different. The choir is now located to the south. The parish priest of Saint-Pierre aux Liens, Father Lucien Desmottes, by delegation of Bishop Monseigneur, proceeded to the blessing on April 29, 1885\. For more than a year, the association "Les amis de Bernard Chardon" has been conducting a census of the buildings in which Father Bernard Chardon intervened for restorations or window embellishments using a new technique: reinforced polyester laminate. This is how we learned that the church of Congrier housed some of them! Bernard Chardon was born at the Ferté Macé in the Orne in 1927\. He started painting at the age of 16, and has never left his brushes since. Priest and teacher in the north of Mayenne for many year
