The Pouillé de l'église Cathédrale d'Angers, written in 1392, tells us that the cure was for the appointment of the prebended canon of Saint-Martial. The church is dedicated to Saint-Jean-Baptiste. The Seigneury of Courtillers belonged to the Abbey of Perray-Neuf-en-Précigné.
