From this 12th century abbey, you will remember the beauty of the stone and the variety of spaces it offers: the imposing restored church hosting exhibitions and events, a history of the abbey in the old cells, unique works dating from prehistory, and Romanesque sculptures among the most beautiful in Gascony!

Having based(established) by 1167 by the members of a religious order prémontrés the Compartment God near(about) Auch, the abbey of Arthous is thriving until the XVIth century. His(Her,Its) conventual buildings(ships) are rebuilt and extended in the course of the XIIth and XVIIIth centuries. Having sold as very national in Revolution, she(it) is transformed into farm then given to the department of Landes(Moors). The Romance church, today restored, keeps(preserves) set(group) of modillons and sculpted capitals(big tops). The abbey proposes a cultural programme planning(programming) and shelters the museum of history(story) and of archaeology of the Country of Orthe.
