The construction responded to a double concern: preserving and showcasing the collections gathered by Adrien Dubouché and creating an educational complex. The creation of these two establishments was voted by Parliament in 1881\. Work took place from 1895 to 1900 under the leadership of Henri Mayeux. The set consists of a main rectangular building housing the museum, with two wings in return framing a garden. The school at the rear is housed in a rectangular building parallel to the previous one. The main facade has a sgraffito decor composed of ocher plant motifs on a beige background, and polychrome porcelain plates. A central front-piece crowned with a triangular pediment accentuates the monumental aspect of this facade which also had to include the six busts of the characters who illustrated regional history. The side wings are embellished, on the garden side, with a sgraffito decor in the same style as the previous one. The two flower beds and shrubs composing the garden of honor,

Bus: no 6 or no 8 Coach: parking reserved for coach drivers in front of the Train Museum Train: Limoges-Bénédictins station (3 hours from Paris), then bus no 6 or no 8 or 15-20 minutes on foot. Car: paid parking of 600 places in front of the museum, and two paid underground parkings place d'Aine and place de la Motte.
