Exposure: “VARIA”
The exhibition brings together in a subjective way the concerns of artists on societal, environmental and scientific themes, in several islands on different axes.
The heated debates on the legitimization of the photographic medium in the field of art, and then those on the relevance of video creations belong to a disappeared world, that digital, 3D and their creative avatars grow back to light years.
The explosion of digital technologies broadens the range of means offered to artists and induces ruptures both in terms of the medium challenged in its materiality and in terms of form and content.
The concerns of artists increasingly focus on societal (otherness, gender, identity) or environmental themes. However, forward-looking research is not neglected, particularly as scientific advances are being questioned.
As a result of the multiplication of new tools that shift know-how and disrupt the conception, materiality and duration of the work, creation appears today multiple and contradictory, utopian or dystopian, questioning the past or projected towards the future, praising the balance of nature or valuing the solutions of science.
The proposed exhibition is an expression of this diversity through a subjective selection of artists whose work the Art Centre particularly appreciates.
