The castle of Faye was built in the XIIIth century from an old(former) observation tower of the defence system of the châtellenie of Montignac, perfected by Alphonse de Poitiers. The set(group) trains(forms) the facade the South of the current castle. A staircase with screw, in the courtyard, connects(binds) these buildings(ships) between them.
In the XVIth century the castle is supplemented on the north side by the thought building(ship) galleries " training(forming) a quadrilateral so around a very narrow court(yard). The facade is is then prettified by a tower which shelters a second staircase with screw, wider and that gives access to galleries done up in residential building.

Two towers of angle, northeast and southeast are then associated with him(her,it) while disappears the chapel of the XVIth century annexed to the castle.
