Château de Cazalet
Avenue de Beutre, 33600 Pessac
- Gironde
- Nouvelle-Aquitaine
In the second half of the eighteenth century, the lawyer Cazalet bought the land of 2 farms which became the estates of Cazalet and France. Several owners succeeded each other between 1813 and 1846\. In 1846, the Clouzet family bought the estate of Cazalet, gave it a wine orientation and had the current castle built in 1860\. It produces on these lands an excellent Graves red wine vintage. Some Pessacais may still remember the horse races that took place on the estate during the inter-war period.
In 1980, at the instigation of the district union of France, a collective of 28 associations for the safeguarding and development of the domain Cazalet-Ragot then put on sale was formed. This collective obtained the purchase of the domain by the CUB in 1982, then by the city of Pessac in 1984\. Only the park is developed and made available to the public very quickly.
