The highest dune of Europe. The dune of Pilat is located at the entrance(admission) of the Bay of Arcachon on the municipality of Teste-de-Buch, in Gironde.
Belonging to the coastal dunes of Aquitaine, she(it) is this day, the only dune always in movement of this system. Between ocean and forest, she(it) moves from 1 to 5 m a year eastward under the influence of the predominant winds and of the tides.
