Conference: «The Pack, history of the Gestapo in Limoges»
Attend this lecture by Christian Penot which will be followed by a dedication.
From 1933, the Nazi regime acquired a formidable body of repression, often called the GESTAPO, which soon spread throughout German territory. As the presence of the Wehrmacht grew, this political police expanded its influence throughout Europe. France was soon conquered. The region of Limoges sees the arrival of the occupier in 1942 with in its wake the Nazi police which already has a sinister reputation. From his Impasse Tivoli landmark in the centre of Limoges, his pack of predators are relentlessly hunting down Jews, patriots and «bargains». From 1942 to 1944, hundreds of people were murdered, persecuted, tortured and deported. To study its action is to follow a trail strewn with blood and tears. It is in this atmosphere that the author plunges us on the occasion of the publication of his last book.
