Concert with the ensemble Cum Jubilo
E ultreia! chemin de Santiago... European chemin de Compostelle. This show proposed by the Cum Jubilo Ensemble is a journey to Santiago through music, songs and stories...
Art direction : Catherine Ravenne
Singing Angelic Greuter, Sarah Richards, Laurence Esquieu, Catherine Ravenne.
The Cum Jubilo Ensemble will perform a cappella, inside the bell-porch, the monodies and polyphonies of medieval manuscripts, an irreplaceable heritage for the history of Western music.
The music of the manuscripts, far from being stereotyped, reveals its deeply jubilant nature and always arouses emotion. All of Cum Jubilo’s interpretations are based on the study and transcriptions of the original manuscripts.
These songs that have always told us the lives of these women and men of the Middle Ages, real or legendary characters, carry a magnificent hope and a great spirituality, all within us
touching by their often moving inspiration of humanity.
Catherine Ravenne has chosen to work among other research on some particularly important manuscripts such as the Codex Calixtinus of Compostela, the Codex Las Huelgas, the Graduel d'Aliénor de Bretagne- Fontevrault...
We can see links with architecture. This music is in essence linked to the Romanesque and Gothic monuments and finds its proper resonance. All the concerts and shows of Cum Jubilo are set in space, in a search of symbiosis with the architecture and acoustics of the heritage places, as close as possible to the public.
