Listed as a historical monument since 1926, the church has been recently renovated. The town of Saint-Pierre-Azif invites the public to discover this Norman heritage treasure set in an admirable site. Its architecture belongs to three epochs: 12th century for the choir (former seigneurial chapel) and the Lombard tower-bell tower. At the end of the fifteenth century the nave, whose frame is in the form of an inverted ship’s hull with its merrains vault (wooden planks for barrels). 17th century for the sacristy of hexagonal plan. During the renovation work, more than 4,500 chestnut trees and 60,000 nails were needed for the nave vault. Also worth seeing is its astonishing collection of nine paintings by masters of the Flemish school of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
