The first chapel of Bois-Héroult was built in 1240 on the site of the present communal church, as evidenced by ancient documents. Bois-Héroult Church: The present church was built in the early 18th century. The 18th century carved wooden altarpiece is well preserved. This former chapel of the Bois-Héroult castle was built around 1740 by Alphonse de Civille (1717-1772) – Seigneur de Saint-Mards – and his wife Anne de Chastenet de Puysegur – daughter of the Maréchal de France. It is dedicated to Our Lady of the Nativity and placed under the protection of Saint Fiacre. You can discover a pieta of Lourdel, a 17th-century Norman sculptor, and a 17th-century painting on the evocation of Saint Ignace de Loyola, founder of the Jesuits. The chapel of Saint Bénigne (ISMH). It was the entrance porch of the old chapel of the Old Castle of Bois-Héroult. The porch is dated 1540 and was built at the request of Father Mathieu Le BLANC – parish priest who died the previous year and whose obituary stone is affixed to the south wall of the nave. It was transformed in 1826 by Benigne PORET, Viscount de BLOSSEVILLE, Marquis de CIVILLE and his wife Louise LE BOURACHER, into a baptismal chapel. It is very similar with its ornament of acanthus leaves to the chapel of REBETS, which is dated 1547. The beam of glory is from the Renaissance period and has quality carved woodwork. The chapel of Saint Louis It was built at the same time as the church of Bois-Héroult. As early as 1738, the Marquise de CIVILLE had built a «private chapel» for «her convenience». Adjacent to the choir, she placed it under the protection of Saint Louis. It remains from a property dependent on the castle, which explains why it was decorated in 1937 with a stained glass window (ISMH), on which figure the coats of arms of the CIVILLE family and its alliances. It has since been completed with panels to the right of the altar depicting the arms of the current owners' families. The complex is included in the Additional Inventory of Historical Monuments.
