Guided tour of the Alauna site
The members of the association AAA will offer a guided tour of the city of Alauna in the light of recent archaeological research conducted under the direction of Laurent Paez-Rezende and Laurence Jeanne. Founded during the reign of Augustus, Alauna was during the High Empire one of the main ancient settlements of present-day Normandy. The recent identification of the forum and its main shrine confirms that it was the city capital of the Unelles people. This visit will give rise to a presentation of the north baths, the theatre, the heart of town (forum, sanctuaries, residences), the craft districts and will end, at the end of a discovery route of about 1.5km, at the chapel Notre-Lady of Victory, built on imposing ancient remains. You can discover an exhibition of panels dedicated to the ancient city of Alauna (urban organization, monumental adornment, etc.) whose description has been further refined since the last georadar prospecting campaigns.
