The Hotel de Vogüé is the fruit of an encounter between a wise amateur and an experienced architect, and illustrates the architecture of the second half of the 19th century and refers to prestigious buildings from the Louis XV period. Hotel of the Count of Vogüé, then of the Count of Montaigu, it was, at the death of the latter, offered as endowment to the State in 1928\. At the same time, the Count of Luart, son-in-law of the Count of Montaigu, had another hotel built in the middle of the war 14-18, adjoining, of great architectural similarity.
The Hotel de Vogüé, which became the secretariat of the War Ministry, became the seat of the Secrétariat au Plan created by Jean Monnet in 1946.
Since 2021, after extensive restoration work, the Vogüé-Luart hotels are the headquarters of the Robert de Sorbon Foundation and the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne (CCFS).
