During the Second Empire, Napoleon III dreamed of making Paris a modern capital that could rival London. The work that followed, under the leadership of the prefect Haussmann, is considerable, and the artists, whom they try to celebrate the ancient and picturesque Paris where modernity, are the direct witnesses of these upheavals. This new presentation, around the immense canvas of Victor Navlet General view of Paris, taken from the Observatory, balloon (1855) and the Opera of Charles Garnier makes dialogue paintings, drawings, models and sculptures.
