Committing, at the risk of his life, for freedom, the Republic, the homeland: General Leclerc, prefect Jean Moulin, guardian figures of the museum, but also Parisiennes and Parisians made this choice without return in 39-45.
In an 18th century historical monument, the collections, rich in archives, objects, prints, photographs and films, offer unique accounts of these two great men and of the Parisians who made the history of the Second World War.
Based on unique objects, a speaker tells you about their fight.

The Musée de la Libération de Paris – musée du général Leclerc – musée Jean Moulin opened its doors on August 25, 2019, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris, at its new site on Place Denfert-Rochereau.
It makes it possible to understand a fundamental page of the history of France through the journey of two very different men, Jean Moulin and Philippe de Hauteclocque. Each according to his ideas launches into the fight to defend their homeland. Their common goal? The liberation of France, of which the Liberation of Paris is the strongest symbol. Their stories accompany the visitor through a journey punctuated by encounters and face-to-face with more than 300 objects, original documents, photographs, archive videos or testimonies that evoke resistance, fighting, repression, the clandestinity and the rediscovered freedom.
