The Museum of the Great War of the Country of Meaux proposes a new approach to the First World War (1914-1918), to discover its causes, its development and its legacy on our contemporary world, thanks to an exceptional collection and an innovative museography. Erected on the historic territory of the first battle of the Marne, the Museum relies on this episode as an entry point to apprehend the Great War as a whole. While it is common to say that the 20th century begins with the First World War, the museum’s tour route translates this idea for the first time from a museographic point of view. This innovative approach makes the Great War Museum above all a museum of history and society, witness to the social, technical, military, geopolitical upheavals of the world during this decisive period in the understanding of our contemporary history. By car Highway A4, follow Meaux RN3 direction Meaux then Soissons. Free parking of 120 places. By transport 30 minutes from Paris by the Gare de l'Est - 10 minutes from the Gare de Meaux by bus lines M6 (download below), 10, 11, 63 and 65 35 minutes from the RER A/TGV station Chessy Marne la Vallée then bus 19 to the Meaux station.
