Rose and Culture
More than two hundred and fifty thousand paper roses are made each year to decorate the dozen floats that parade through the streets of the city. For this 75th edition, the city plans to design an exhibition around the rose of yesterday, today and tomorrow… Brie-Comte-Robert is intimately linked to the development of the rose whose cultivation was introduced by the gardener of the Admiral of Bougainville.
The arrival of the railway from Bastille to Brie-Comte-Robert at first in 1875 made it easier for rose growers to transport their production to Paris… and gave this line the name of the rose train. The rose, a history, a heritage that makes Brie vibrate and deserves a few surprises… between history and artistic interpretation… exhibition created in partnership with the Comité Fête des Roses and the Musée de la Rose de Grisy-Suisnes.
