Discover an exceptional cultural heritage: perfume!
A unique institution, the Osmothèque Conservatoire International des Parfums, has been preserving and supporting unique collections in Versailles for more than 30 years: more than 5,000 perfumes, 850 of which have disappeared from commercial channels.
For this day, more than fifteen perfumers «nose» or experts will be present to make you discover olfactory treasures (perfumes, raw materials, etc.) of the heritage of the perfumery from the collections of the Conservatoire. Our Institution offers for this event a one-hour guided tour through different poles. These tours take place all day with a start every 15 minutes:
• Welcome in the showroom of the Osmothèque, presentation of the Conservatory, its history, its roles and its missions.
• Room 1 - Perfume and Royal Courts in Versailles : The other capital of perfumery
• Room 2 - Perfume and Chemistry : The advent of modern perfumery
• Room 3 - Perfume and Couture A successful marriage for a century!

Attention: Opening only on Saturday 17 September from 10am to 6pm

The Osmothèque is the Conservatoire International des Parfums.
It is a place dedicated to the memory of perfumes that gathers and lists an exclusive collection of nearly 4000 perfumes, some of which are very old, disappeared from the commercial circuits, and which made the great hours of the history of perfumery.
The creation of the Osmothèque (from the Greek OSME-odor and THEQUE-rangement) was born from the original and innovative idea that perfumes disappeared or likely to disappear in one and the same place, where professionals and perfume lovers could rediscover fragrances they had loved or worn.
Since its opening in 1990, the Osmothèque has worked to create a unique collection in the world, an exceptional olfactory heritage that can be discovered in Versailles.
Its vocation is not only to preserve perfumes, but also to transmit knowledge that concerns the heritage of perfumery. Beginners, amateurs or professionals, all audiences are welcomed and invited to discover or rediscover l
