The Follow La Flèche Association is leading the project to rebuild the north bell tower and the spire of the Saint-Denis cathedral basilica. This major construction site will restore its original silhouette to the façade of the basilica, the European cradle of Gothic architecture.

... What arrow?

The Basilica of Saint-Denis has been waiting for its arrow for more than 170 years! For seven centuries, the northern bell tower and the spire of Saint-Denis were powerful visual landmarks in Ile-de-France. Completed at the end of the 12th century, the spire stood proudly at a height of 90 metres, rivalling the towers of Notre-Dame. Weakened by lightning and a violent hurricane, it had to be dismantled stone by stone in 1846, waiting for its reconstruction.

A building site like no other

From the know-how of cathedral builders to the digital devices of tomorrow, the work of the arrow will be a unique opportunity to share with the public. In the line of their ancestors, master builders and craftsmen will work before your eyes, at the foot of the basilica. Like a conservatory of know-how open to the future, this visitable site will be a gateway between matter, mind, hand and virtual immersion.

Workshops for all

Every year, at the foot of the basilica, Follow La Flèche invites you to discover the materials and know-how of the builders. From ore to forging or stone to building, our workshops are open to everyone, from 6 to 99 years!

European Heritage Days

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the workshops are accessible continuously, free of charge and without registration. The entrance is through the (free) ticket office of the Basilica of Saint-Denis. Our stonemasons and blacksmiths are waiting for you, and other trades are invited for the event!
