Founded in 1715, the Opéra Comique is one of the oldest cultural institutions in France. His original repertoire combines theatre with lyrical singing and has produced the most widely performed French masterpieces in the world today: Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust, Bizet’s Carmen, Delibes' Lakme, Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann, Manon de Massenet, Pelléas et Mélisande de Debussy… It was inscribed on the list of national theatres in 2005 and placed under the direction of Olivier Mantei since 2015.
Although the repertoire, baroque and creation remain at the heart of its programming, the 2018 season of the Opéra Comique is marked by audacity both in artistic terms and openness to new audiences. My first Opera Festival was born in February, with three shows dedicated to families. An operation that will be renewed in 2019\.
