The City of Paris is conducting restoration work on the main facade of the Madeleine until spring 2023. The capitals of the columns of the church are especially restored by the Degaine company which will present its know-how through stands and animations.
The public can learn about stone cutting and discover the capitals of the church exceptionally presented at the foot of the church.
Free entrance without reservation in front of the main entrance of the Madeleine church.

The construction of the church of La Madeleine began under Louis XV in 1763\. At the Revolution the yard was abandoned. In 1806 Napoleon I decided to resume these works for the construction of a Temple to the glory of the Great Army, under the leadership of the architect Vignon. Louis XVIII restores to the shipyard its religious destination. The church, completed in 1842, has an exceptional statuary from the first half of the 19th century and major works such as the Fronton, the Bronze Doors, the High Altar and the Great Organs.
