The development of memory tourism also falls within its functions. Civic and educational issues for the transmission of the memorial heritage to the younger generations on the one hand, it constitutes on the other hand a cultural and tourist issue for the preservation of the testimonies of history and the development of territories.
Do not hesitate to come and discover, thanks to the virtual reality headset available on the stand, places of memory under the responsibility of the ministry!
DMCA and its partners are also responsible for relations with foundations and memory associations, to which they provide administrative and financial support.
The DMCA finally set up a memorial educational action. It is based on several areas, including, in particular, the support and promotion of the defence teaching mission, the active participation of school students in commemorations, the encouragement to discover places of memory and the provision of adapted resources for teachers. The journal Les Chemins de la mémoire is part of one of them. For the past 30 years, it has been offering historical articles related to current memory and calling on historians or specialists recognized in their respective fields.
