Guided night tour of the architecture of the Théâtre des Forges "Come forge yourself at the Théâtre!"
You will have the opportunity to visit the boxes and the technical plays of the theatre in the company of a tourist guide of the Tourist Office of La Porte du Hainaut and the pleasure of being able to admire the room with its industrial style. After this night visit, the Forges Theatre will have no secrets for you! A place that bears witness to the local industrial heritage. It was in 1936 that the current Théâtre des Forges «René Carpentier» was built by the Forges et Aciéries du Nord et de l'Est, in the Coron des Forges, in the heart of the Poirier district. Intended to be a meeting place for the inhabitants of the neighborhood, it served as a party hall as well as a cinema. In 1980, following the sale by Usinor of the various buildings for collective use, the municipality, led by René Carpentier, decided to develop a development study on this district of Poirier. The building then became the Poirier’s festival hall. On September 23, 1999, the building was once again open to the public. After a vast renovation and redevelopment project, carried out by the City, it then becomes the theatre of the Forges «René Carpentier», high place of the cultural and artistic diffusion of the town!
