Visite d'une maison de tisserand du XVIème siècle 94 rue de Paris 59300 Valenciennes
94 rue de Paris 59300 Valenciennes
The 94 rue de Paris is an old weaver’s house from the sixteenth century, called the Scaldienne house because it is typical of the Scheaut valley (which is called Scaldis in Latin and Schelde in Dutch). In the Middle Ages there were thousands of houses of this type of characteristic architecture throughout the Scheldt. Today there are only a dozen left (Cambrai, Bruges, Antwerp and three in Valenciennes). The Valencian Heritage Protection Committee bought this house in 1991 to make it its headquarters, a meeting place and a museum space. The work is almost finished and members of the association offer you a commented visit of this rare place full of History...
