Eméville winch, visit of the Sarazin Quarry
This old quarry is characteristic of the extraction of stone between the two wars, during the period of reconstruction following the demolitions of the first world war: modern by the winch allowing the reassembly of the blocks and the transport by automobile truck on the surface and the underground railway, but traditional by the method of manual extraction of the blocks with the lance. Visit of the site on the surface: exhibition, the old winch of winding stone blocks. Guided underground tour (3/4 hour/ 1 hour), descent by ladders and intermediate levels, visitors will be provided with rope and harness for descent to 18 m underground. Geology, the Decauville underground railway and loading ramps, demonstration of extraction of blocks, presentations and tests of hand tools and equipment abandoned around 1935.
