In collaboration with the association EPAC (environment and heritage of Calaisis) the association Citizens (nes) of Calaisis for the Climate 4C organizes a loop in the city on the theme of water and its present and future challenges. This tour by bike (about 10 kms) will follow the natural paths of the water (canals, watergangs) and pass by the current and past works of emptying to the sea that allow the maintenance out of water of the polder on which we live. The starting point of the visit is in front of the city hall.

In 1885, the fusion(merger) of Calais with Saint-Pierre-de-Calais pulls(entails) the construction of a new Town hall. Project confided(entrusted) to the architect Louis Debrouwer favours a concrete(watertight) structure. Works extend from 1911 till 1923\. The brick-built building red, of inspiration Flemish neo-revival, is dominated by a 72 metre belfry. The decorations(sets) of the rooms(parts, plays) of splendour, on the first floor, are of inspiration Art deco. The painted decorations(sets) are the expression of regional artists in a historiciste style. The staircase of honour is lighted(enlightened) by a glass roof representing the grip(taking) of Calais by the duke of Please.
