Trip from the end of the world and the five continents, trip around the Mediterranean, trip to Europe… These works bring their share of exoticism dear to collectors of the nineteenth century and illustrate the exchanges between societies that discover each other, interest each other, trade or wage war, displacing men but also objects of art. Some works inspire the journey and others evoke some great travelers who, for artistic, scientific or military reasons, knew glory far from home. All facets of the museum’s rich collections of art and archaeology are represented, with many new objects. And then, through the elements exposed, there is always a journey through time that transports us and makes us dream…
