The first church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste was built in 1528 on the site of a chapel built to receive the relics of the saint. The present church was erected in 1901 and consecrated in 1903. after two years of closure due to work, the church reopens its doors to visitors.
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, an exhibition of lithurgical clothing and photos of ancient church buildings is on display.

Faubourg de Rouvroy and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church This important faubourg of Abbeville has a strong identity inherited from its workers' past.
The faubourg de Rouvroy begins beyond the old ditches of the fortifications of the Porte d'Hocquet. It is mentioned for the first time of «Rouveroi» in 1176\. The name of this suburb comes, it seems, from the oak (Quercus petraea) very present at one time on this site or nearby. Protected by its rivers and ditches, Rouvroy served as a military barracks as in 1588\. Water is indeed an important element in this part of the territory. Several floods have also been counted there since the 17th century. Water is also an asset for the gardens that make up the wealth of this part of the city at least until the end of the 19th century. Moreover, various industries have settled in this suburb (pottery, brickworks and tiles in the 16th and 17th century).
