The cellar of the former Priory of Saint-Maurice, located under the Prior’s home (now the Museum of the Vénerie de la Ville de Senlis), is a typical example of the hundreds of private cellars that dot the Senlisian basement. The space is organized on two levels of cellars with a first vaulted vault for storage and a second level of quarry with access to the well still visible within the park. The priory and its basement are arranged on the orders of King Saint-Louis in the 13th century. The sovereign, known for his piety, wishes to house the relics of Saint-Maurice as close as possible to his palace (whose ruins are visible within the park of the royal castle). The space will be open to the public exceptionally during these Heritage Days.

  • Hauts-de-France
Housed in the Priory Saint-Maurice’s home, in the park of the Château Royal, the museum preserves a unique collection of objects and works of art inspired by the Veneto. The historical and artistic dimension of the chase is evoked through important paintings (Desportes, Oudry, Perdrix) coming especially from the princes of Condé in Chantilly.
