The first stone constructions date the XIIIth century s., when the monks of Saint Augustin melt the convent of the Trinity. Places are then confided(entrusted) to the Hospital workers of Saint Jean de Jérusalem, ancestor of the knights in the order of Malta. In 1740, the municipality decides to make a prison. Become dilapidated, it is disused in 1989\. Renovation work begins after excavations(searches) begun(undertaken) between 1989 and 1991 which brought Gallo-Roman activities to light. Pilotis going back up(raising) to Middle Ages certify harbour activities and exchanges.
