Église Saint-Sébastien

The church of San Sebastián was built using debris from the ancient cathedral of Reims burned down in the early 13th century. By piercing a door in 1837, calcined stones were discovered. It was first dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and it was around 1350 that she took the name of San Sebastián.
The church underwent major transformations between 1850 and 1860, under the impulse of Abbé Manceaux: demolition of the dilapidated porch, reinforcement of the pillars, realization of a magnificent rose window. The high altar is made of cut stone, on the sides two chapels, one dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the other to San Sebastián.
The church was completely destroyed, during the war of 14-18, and rebuilt from 1930, the classified part being financed by the Fine Arts. In 1934, tiles, stained glass windows and bells were installed: Michel, Catherine and Marguerite. During the Second World War, the damage will be less: broken stained glass and tiles, bullet impacts on the walls.
