Église Saints-Pierre-et-Paul
7 place de l'Église, 67210 Obernai
Church built between 1865 and 1870 in neogothic style by the architect Eugene Petiti and the entrepreneurs(contractors) J.-B. Perisse, J.-F. Stupid bastard and F. Rudloff. It shelters an altar of the Saint sepulchre of 1504 attributed(awarded) to Veit Wagner de Strasbourg, surrounded with stained-glass windows of the XVth century resulting(coming) from the old(former) church destroyed in 1867\. The great organ is built in 1881-1882 by the house Joseph Merklin. This instrument is one of rare witnesses(batons) in Alsace of the "Parisian" invoice(making) of organ of symphonic type. Left neglected at the end of 1960s, listed(classified) in conformance with(for) historic monuments in 1991, it was brilliantly restored by Daniel Kern, who could restore the main part of the existent material(equipment).
