Come and learn more about the Société d'Histoire et d'Archéologie de la Lorraine, section of Thionville and discover an exhibition about the life and work of Father Scheil.

The SHAL (Société d'Histoire et d'Archéologie de la Lorraine - section de Thionville) will be presented to you by holding a stand and selling notebooks from the Thionvillois region.
You will also be able to see an exhibition of «the Association of Friends of Father Schiel», in order to discover the work of the latter, born in Koenigsmacker, mainly known as «the publisher of the Hammurabi Code» and the pioneer of historical studies on Elam.

Bridges(Decks) locks the South and the North of Thionville were built between 1746 and 1752 by Louis de Cormontaigne, director of fortifications. In objective to avoid damages due to the floods of the Moselle, a bypass channel is dug(accentuated). Bridges(Decks) - locks allow the traffic(circulation) then between both banks of this channel(canal). It is possible to hold(retain) also the defensive character of works assuring(insuring) a continuity aves the ramparts of Thionville.
