Musée Lorrain du cheval
2 Rue Saint-Blaise, 55130 Gondrecourt-le-Château
Every summer, the Lorraine Museum of the Horse welcomes visitors who come discover as much the medieval tower as the collections which it shelters. It is not rare either that old(former) sons of the soil return it, to revive their memories and to tell anecdotes. Some people remember the tower serving as prison. Others remember that she served as refuge to the vagrants, forbidden to roam at night. Even though young thieves of apples had been imprisoned one day, «for example».
Collections were established(constituted) by the Friends of the Lorraine Museum of the Horse: association based(established) in 1976 by several passionate about Equidae. Gathered(Collected) heritage is important and various. Certain objects are very rare, such the complete harness of litter and the harness of sled with small bells (at the beginning of the 18th s.).
The museum is organised around six thematic rooms which handle diverse uses of horses in the course of history(story). These rooms are divided between the tower and the old(former) building(ship) of peace justice thought " the audience " (built at the end of the 18th s.).
