From the builders of the Romanesque era to contemporary craftsmen, from sandstone to reinforced concrete, «Carré magique - cathédrale & voirie» is a work around gesture and trace in the building trades, from the point of view of material and intangible heritage.

The history of the Fondation de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame and that of the Strasbourg cathedral are intimately linked. The Foundation has been dedicated to the cathedral for nearly 800 years: at the origin of its construction, it is now dedicated to its maintenance and conservation-restoration.
The workshops of the Fondation de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame have watched over the cathedral for centuries through their operating faculty, heir to the builders. Their materials science is enriched over time and generates new jobs.
