Discover one of the great masters of fantastic literature.
Raymond Jean Marie de Kremer (1887-1964), alias Jean Ray and John Flanders, two of nearly 300 pseudonyms.
Multiple names for the many facets of a legendary Belgian author, prolific in devil (sic) with thousands of texts of all kinds and who will not hesitate to romanticize his own life.
He was first a show creator and lyricist, then literary and cinematographic critic, magazine director, journalist, writer for young and old, specializing in storytelling, detective novels, adventures and mysteries, not forgetting sciencefiction, fantasy and horror.
The works of Jean Ray, including Malpertuis and the tales of whisky, are reprinted at Alma and Terre de Brume, as well as at the Amicale Jean Ray.
The exhibition brings together original and foreign editions from the 1920s to the present day, comics, books about the author and numerous reproductions of the various artists who illustrated: Jean Ray, including Follet, Tardi, Brantonne, Henri Lievens for his covers at Marabout, Nicollet for those at Neo and Foerster for those at Alma.
With also for the first time original unpublished drawings by Henri Vernes (creator of Bob Morane and great friend of Jean Ray), audio-videos of interviews, films and short films, as well as all the famous covers of the adventures of Harry Dickson, The famous American detective.
