The Jean Falala Media Library, the central equipment of the Reims public reading network, offers nearly 160,000 documents on all media (books, discs, videos, CD-ROMs) for consultation and loan.
It helps to revitalize the courtyard area of the cathedral, renovated in 2007.
It is one of 12 national projects selected by the Ministry of Culture and Communication under the Municipal Regional Libraries (RMVR) program.
Facing the cathedral and with an area of 6.500m², the media library is located on a plot previously occupied by the Hotel de Police.
Preserving the facade of the Hotel de Police was imposed out of respect for Reims: a real attachment to what remains has been transformed during the study into necessity. The arrival of modernity on this site of the forecourt of the cathedral seeks to achieve a gentle transformation, and a fine adjustment that make the building resist the co-visibility with the cathedral.
