A workshop to discover the creation of the stained glass window and its different stages by imagining the future stained glass windows of the chapel

14h – 15h Workshop «The language of the coats of arms»
This workshop allows children to go back to the origin of coats of arms and coats of arms and to learn about their composition. Each little knight, princess or prince will be able to create his coat of arms and parade proudly with his shield.

The preceptory of Avalleur: nine centuries of history. Between Burgundy and Champagne, the land of Avalleur was given before 1142 to the order of the Temple. The preceptory developed until 1300 thanks to numerous donations (forest, vines, land, wood). Large agricultural field, it is still in full expansion at the time of the arrest of the Templars. After the suppression of the order of the Temple, the land of Avalleur returned to the Hospitallers. The preceptory was then one of the richest in the order; its possessions extended to the gates of Troyes.
In the 21st century, the history of the Templars still fascinates. The miraculously intact chapel, with its painted decorations and beautiful framing, is a typical example of the Templar naves of eastern France. As for the main building, the examination of its walls revealed that they date, for the most part, from its origin, which makes the preceptory of Avalleur one of the rare testimonies of the Templar period preserved in France.
