1621: Louis XIII allows the installation of Récollets in Vitry-le-François "to train(form) good Christians", under the pretence of a campaign(countryside) led against the Protestants.
1624-1635: unoccupied plots of land are acquired(bought back) to the notables and vitryats traders on a zone before reserved for sessions by entrainements of arquebusiers. The construction of the convent of Récollets begins. In 1625, a first chapel is built. Dormitories, refectory, portal(gate), library(bookcase), cellar follow. The building(ship) will expand until 1706.
1789: French revolution confiscates by decree the property(goods) of the clergy then in 1791, the convent is sold by auction and becomes property of the city of Vitry-le-François. The building(ship) is then occupied by local services(departments).
1840: the old(former) convent becomes officially the Town hall. Important renovation work is periodically committed(hired) until 1896.
1944: the Town hall, saved(spared) in 1940, is devastated during the bombardment of June 27th, 1944\. With him 30000 volumes of his library(bookcase) disappear. The building will be rebuilt as before then inaugurated officially in 1962.
In the garden: the facade of the Middle school(College) of the Boys, burnt down in 1940, as well as the group " Adam et Eve ", realised by the sculptor Alphonse Terroir and given to the City of Vitry-le-François, by the Ville de Paris.
