Tour de l'Horloge
Le Château, 37110 Château-Renault
- Indre-et-Loire
- Centre-Val de Loire
This emblematic building of Château-Renault is one of the rare medieval fortified door towers preserved in France. It is the result of several construction campaigns staggered from the end of the 12th to the beginning of the 15th century. A hexagonal belfry and bell were added in the sixteenth century. In December 2014, the north pier and the 1st level wall collapsed, requiring the installation of a large rescue and restoration site. The work completed in the summer of 2018 makes it possible to discover this building in a new way, thanks to the interior access of these spaces previously closed to the public.
