Château
Place du Vieux-Château 36700 Châtillon-sur-Indre
The castral ensemble of Châtillon includes a rare cylindrical vaulted keep of the twelfth century with its shirt and its walled enclosure, a collegiate church of the twelfth century, and above all, a castle or royal logis -also called logis Pierre de la Brosse- whose design makes it a precursor of Renaissance architecture in the Loire Valley. Built in the thirteenth century as evidenced by recent discoveries, with a large terrace of 1400m² overlooking the valley of the Indre, it has large openings in the facades and has no defensive character: it is a residence of pleasure more than of power.
