In an exceptional site, on the side of a hillside where the vineyards of the appellation contrôlée Vouvray are emerging, you will discover, on five hectares, a succession of terraces inspired by the Italian Renaissance villas and labeled «Remarkable Garden».
During this visit, go back in time to the 16th century and discover the history of the Castle and its troglodytic chapel full of anecdotes and surprises. On the highest terrace, you can admire the view of the estate and the vineyard, then we invite you to walk the boxwood paths of the vegetable garden, while tasting edible flowers. A historic and tasty invitation that will entertain young and old!
A tasting of the wines of the domain is offered and many animations are at the rendezvous for this weekend of the European Heritage Days!

The hanging gardens of Valmer were created in the sixteenth century around a castle of the Renaissance, then embellished in the seventeenth century when Thomas Bonneau, councilman of Louis XIII, settled there and had built the High Terrace. The castle was destroyed by fire in 1948, but the magnificent gardens remain a setting for the Petit-Valmer, the rare troglodytic chapel and the 17th century communes. The owners are now dedicated to the restoration and beautification of this complex. Two main axes structure an exceptional set of terraces that follow the slope of the hill on eight levels and more than thirty meters of elevation. For more than 10 years, the conservatory garden has made the reputation of the gardens of Valmer. In 2014 a new adventure begins: the installation of an ampelographic collection (old grape varieties and table grapes).
