It was built as a parish church in the years 1965-67 in a northern part of the city devastated by the destruction of the Second World War. The project was innovative. The architecture of wooden beams, structured in an imposing helical vault, unfolds around a large axial pillar of concrete of 1.20 meters in diameter. The latter ends outside the building by the cross. On the perimeter, twenty-one pillars support the structure. The innovative character of the project can also be seen on the ornamental plan: Sainte-Jeanne d'Arc is rich in a large wall of light on its right side, made of polyester plates by François Chapuis.
